Our story

A family-owned guide to great coffee.

Our family story

Meet Dana Karges

CEO, The Coffee Company

At the heart of The Coffee Company is faith, family, gratitude, and a love of amazing coffee. Dana Karges is a daughter, wife, mother, sister, and an amazing human being — and the CEO of The Coffee Company. A two-time cancer survivor with a passion for helping others, Dana brings resilience, compassion, and a genuine love of people to everything we do.

Our family's connection to coffee goes back to a waterfront restaurant in Newport Beach. Later, Dana's years as a flight attendant showed her what businesses do well and what they do poorly — how much it matters to take exceptional care of people, the difference a quality product makes, and how something as simple as genuinely great coffee can change someone's day.

We're a family-owned company based in Santa Ana, California, and we believe great coffee can make life a little brighter. So we connect people with independent roasters, support their craft, and help you discover coffee you'll love — then send you straight to the people who actually roast it.

Buying coffee online is oddly hard. There are hundreds of excellent independent roasters in the United States, and almost no good way to work out which of them makes something you'd actually enjoy. Most people give up and buy whatever is in the supermarket.

The Coffee Company exists to close that gap. We do three things: explain coffee in plain language, help you identify what you like, and introduce you to the roaster who makes it. Then we get out of the way.

We don't sell coffee

There is no cart here and there never will be. Every purchase happens on the roaster's own website, with their pricing, their shipping and their customer support. That keeps the relationship — and the margin — where it belongs.

How we make money

We do the hard work of finding great independent roasters so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying amazing coffee. When you discover a coffee through The Coffee Company and purchase it through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small percentage from the roaster. You never pay anything extra. That commission helps us keep searching, tasting, learning, telling roasters' stories, and introducing more people to great coffee.

It's a win for everyone: you discover coffee you love, independent roasters reach new customers, and our family can keep doing the work of finding and sharing them. We don't sell placement, we don't run ad pixels, and we don't sell your email address.

Where we are right now

This is an early build. Every roaster profile on the site is fictional sample content, clearly labelled as such, used to design and test the experience. No affiliate programs have been approved yet, so outbound buy buttons are deliberately inactive rather than pointing somewhere misleading.

The Journal articles, on the other hand, are real and written to be useful today.

What's next

Onboarding real independent roasters, one at a time, with their permission and their own words. If you roast coffee, we'd like to hear from you.

Follow along

We'll email when the first real roasters are live.
